DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES WHICH HAVE BEEN UNDERTAKEN BY TFC INCLUDES:

  1. In conjunction with other Cooperatives stakeholders, organizing for the implementation of the Coop Reform and Modernization Program. TFC participate in its formulation and promotion.
  2. Continuous assessment of cooperative policy and legislation.
  3. Formulating a program to carry forward the ILO initiative on protecting informal economy workers through the cooperative model.
  4. Designing a program providing for an enabling environment for cooperatives in Tanzania in collaboration with ICA.
  5. Coordinate RPO requirements with respect to research requirements under the BEEP initiative (a regional program of Farmers Organization and HRD institutions in collaboration with a Norwegian development agency).
  6. Under the same BEEP, take part inn an exchange program to share experiences; one of the staff members is in Uganda studying the operation of Area Marketing Enterprises and an export agency for the cooperatives.
  7. Collection of market information, internal and external, for uploading into TFC website.
  8. Finding buyers (markets) for cooperative products on request by cooperatives.
  9. Business development of cooperative projects (e.g. Vanilla production and Soybean marketing in Songea).
  10. Data and information collection dissemination through TFC website addressed www.ushirika.coop market information on a monthly update comprises some of the information to be accessed.
  11. Promotion of unprotected informal economy workers by conducting participatory strategic interventions towards their recognition and formalization. Impacting basic modern business skills and providing small loans through a Revolving Loan Fund under a facility of the ILO.
  12. Simplification for popularization of translated and illustrated cooperative policy and legislation for use by rank and file members.
  13. Training on basic IT for cooperative union official especially on accessing vital data and information from the worldwide computer networks, sending and receiving emails, etc.
  14. Face to face consultation with needy co-operators on a daily basis.
  15. Sensitization of cooperative industrial cooperatives (SMEs), beginning with Dar es Salaam region, to recognize and appreciate the benefits of group action.
  16. Organizing cooperative promotional shows during Nanenane and Cooperative Day.
